LYNDA GRAVATT Obituary

GRAVATT--Lynda, a three-time AUDELCO Award winner (2003, 2004 and 2007), and winner of the Helen Hayes Award (2004); died Friday, February 23, in New Brunswick. She was 76. Ms. Gravatt mentored generations of aspiring actors, worked as a director, and was a founding faculty member of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC. She will be missed by her sons Oge and David, David's wife, Dr. Heather Platt; Oge's former wife Monique; and her grandchildren Ishmael, Ishana, Isabella, Josephine and Lucas. She is mourned by her partner Sydne Mahone, and a host of friends and family in the theater world and beyond. A celebration of life will be held Monday, March 11 at 11am at Riverside Church in Manhattan.
