MARGARET DePRIEST Obituary

DePRIEST--Margaret. Margaret DePriest, television writer and actress who helped define daytime's golden age, died peacefully at her Greenwich Village home on September 29, 2025. She was 94. Born in Bristow, Oklahoma, she rose from Depression-era farm life to win a drama scholarship at the University of Oklahoma and later the Obie Award for her performance in The Place for Chance. She moved into writing, becoming head writer on The Edge of Night, All My Children, General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, One Life to Live and Sunset Beach, earning five Daytime Emmy nominations and a Writers Guild Award. But her greatest role was being a grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Sara Kimbell and son-in-law Wayne Kimbell; her son Jake Price; and grandchildren Eli and Chaya.
