POWERS--Marie Wallace. March 6, 1934 - September 27, 2025. Marie Wallace Powers, 91, of both New York City, Buck Hill Falls, Pennsylvania and North Palm Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, September 27, at her Florida home in Lost Tree Village. Born on March 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Stratford Corbett and Dolorita (Fitzgerald) Wallace and a life-long resident of New York City. A graduate of Marymount College, and later Columbia University with a master's degree in education, Marie devoted her early career to teaching primary school-aged children in the New York City public school system. Once Marie became a mother, she pursued her interest in real estate and became an accomplished broker with William B. May. Marie was a devout catholic, a Dame of Malta, and served on the Board of Trustees for Catholic Big Sisters, Patrons of the Vatican Museum, and Marymount College for 12 years. She held many leadership and volunteer positions with various hospitals and charitable organizations such as Casita Maria, Junior League of the City of New York, Memorial-Sloan Kettering and St. Vincents Hospitals. Marie found great joy in skiing, playing tennis, golf, bridge, and traveling with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time in her favorite places, such as Bellport, Long Island; Spring Lake, New Jersey; and Buck Hill Falls, Pennsylvania. She delighted in the arts, especially the New York City Opera and Philharmonic. Surviving are two sons, William Corbett Powers and his wife, Jennifer of Summit, New Jersey, Christopher Doyle Powers and his wife, Kelly of Darien, Connecticut; a brother, William F. Wallace of Greenwich, Connecticut; a sister-in law, Kathleen Wallace of Greenwich, Connecticut; five grandchildren, Katherine, Luke, Nicholas, Crosby and Nola Powers; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Doyle Powers; two sisters, Julia Georgi and Dolorita Moore, a brother, Stratford C. Wallace, a sister-in-law, Joanne Wallace, and a brother-in-law, James Moore, Sr. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 7, at 10:00am, in the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven, Hawthorne, New York. Visiting hours will be on Monday, October 6, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm, at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home, 1076 Madison Avenue. All are welcome to celebrate her extraordinary life.
