Dr. Zatzkis was one of the most wonderful people I have ever known. He was the most caring person and he took care of me from the bottom of his heart. He never made me feel like a patient, me made me feel like a family member. He was so incredibly proud of his family and I was lucky to get updates on family life. My thoughts go out to his family and I feel as though I was lucky to have known him for as long as I did.

Dr. Zatzkis used to tell me I travelled the longest distance (from Singapore and Shanghai) of all his patients to see him before I moved back to the States. I was so happy to see him last April after missing him for 2 years. He told me "don't sweat the small stuff" and he was so glad he could still drive. He is indeed a caring and loving person; and I will miss him dearly.

I am saddended of unfortunately reading an obituary in the Newark Star Ledger of someone I remember well from childhood, Mark Zatzkis.
We knew each other as kids in grammar school, in Newark, New Jersey. He was a great kid, who excelled at his schoolwork. He was a model student, way back then. He was his parent's pride and joy.
My deepest sympathy to his wife Melissa, his children, and dear Mother, Natalie Zatzkis.

Farewell to thee! but not farewell
To all my fondest thoughts of thee:
Within my heart they still shall dwell;
And they shall cheer and comfort me.

I always found Dr. Zatzkis affable, generous and immensely insightful. I relished our discussions about the Yankees and life in New York and Boston. My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Zatzkis, Hayley, Greg and Elliot.

Words fail me, Mark. Your spirit is with me daily, bringing great optimism and compassion and, grave sadness, all at once. You most certainly left this world in far better shape than you met it. However, we are now scrambling to fill your void... Even the birds are sad. love, Buzz

Melissa, Elliot, Hayley and Greg:
I've been a patient of Mark's for many years. I was a face in the crowd at his funeral today and wanted to let you now how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I'll always have a special place in my heart for him. Mine is one of the hearts that he cared for and brought back to life when it stopped beating a few years ago. He kept me alive then and I wanted to help keep his memory alive today. I'll never forget him.

Mark was an unusual combination of brilliance and humility. He was a kind and loyal friend, a compassionate physician, and an able colleague. It was always a joy to spend time with Mark, who was authentic, attentive, and shared his keen insights. He had a gift for putting people at ease and for enjoying life. His passing is a huge personal and collective loss. We extend our deepest sympathy to Melissa, Elliot, Hayley, and Greg.

Mark and Melissa welcomed us with open arms when my former husband joined Mark's practice in 1991. I have many special memories of our time in Pacific Palisades and our time with them. When Melissa found out I was pregnant, she hosted a beautiful baby shower for me with my family and friends. Mark and Melissa were a part of our family as well, and I will always remember Mark with the fondest of memories and his bright smile that made you feel embraced with warmth. Thank you for those memories, with love Eileen and Nicole

Mark's life was, is and always will be marked by an abundance of superlatives. He was as wise, kind and loving as a person could hope to be, and then some. My deepest sympathy (and warmest love) to Natalie, Melissa, Hayley, Elliot and Greg.
