I just now found out that Martha died. We have always lived in the same neighborhood, the Upper West Side, in Man. I play recorder and have her on records (you know, what we listened to before cassettes) and have taken classes with her in her apt., and also in Pittsburgh for a workshop there.
I also play in a group called Gamelan Son of Lion. She knew the leader Barbara Benary, and came once to hear us play in Wave Hill Park. I always enjoyed running into her. She was really friendly and fun to talk to. I'm so sorry to hear she has died and would love to be informed if there's a memorial for her!

I only just discovered that Martha had passed away. She was a great friend to me during my years at ARS and beyond. I don't think I ever met a kinder person, and witnessing the wonderful relationship she had with Dick was an inspiration. The world is a poorer place without her.
