Not sure what to say?

Dear Lore,

My deepest sympathy. I remember him, and your father and mother with great fondness and nostalgia. Ludwig -my father's namesake - was our dermitologist and medical adviser. And Grete and Marin were my bosses at Camp Cone in 1954, where I had been a camper in 1945&46. Grete once excused a transgression of mine by saying "I was doch young myself once." Martin was much esteemed by my uncle Hugo Tannenbaum.

Lenn and I, who met at Pine Cone in 1968, have fond memories of our summers in Hancock. Marty was a wonderful camp director and we hope that he knew that the Pine Cone website had started and that old friendships were rekindled. We send our sympathies to his family.

Marty was a cousin of my father's. I and several family members were campers at Pine Cone. Many years later my wife to be was a camper at Pine Cone. Marty came to our wedding in Indianapolis. I have only fond memories of this gentle man.

I was saddened to hear of Marty's passing. I remember him so well, even 50 years later. And in my mind's eye, I can also still "see" Gary & Frank Strassburger and Bob Klopfer from my time at Pine Cone in 1958 & 1960. It is great to see so many campers remembering Marty.

Peace.

For me, the year was 1968. I was hired by Marty to be his Asst Waterfront Director, working under Gene. As I recall, Marvin Rothenstein was the "co-owner" and "Owner/Director-in-Training". They both had diametrically opposite personalities, that sort of complemented each other.

Marty was a grand and loving man and a good mentor to Marvin.
