MARY LOU JENNERJAHN Obituary

JENNERJAHN--Mary Lou, of New York City died on December 30, 2020 at the age of 83. She was a loving cousin, dear friend and dedicated colleague who was beloved by all who knew her. Born in Rutland, VT on May 19, 1937, Mary Lou graduated from Richmond Hill High School in Queens, NY in 1954. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John's University in 1958 and her LL.B. from St. John's School of Law in 1960. Her 47-year trailblazing career as an attorney and executive at CBS began when she joined the broadcasting giant as a staff attorney in 1969. For nearly half a century, Mary Lou achieved increasing responsibility while advising senior leadership, including legendary CBS founder William S. Paley. Prior to CBS, Mary Lou was a staff attorney at the Federal Trade Commission and Paramount Pictures. Her passion for her work was only outshone by her dedication to her parish, St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church on East 55th Street in Manhattan, and her support of many charitable organizations, The Bowery Mission, Cancer Care and The Arthritis Foundation among them. Mary Lou was cherished by her large family of cousins, including Mary Angela Dalto, Robert Dalto, Charles Hurley, Patrick Hurley, Richard Peter King, Rick Morrison, Vicki Morrison, Joan Nelson, Therese Parker and Carol Sue Taylor. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist at 10:30am. The service may be viewed online at memorialstream.online/mar ylou/.

It has now been over three years since you went home, Mary Lou, and I still miss knowing you are out there, ever available for a fun catch-up lunch, a quick text or to compare notes on the network's latest successes and faux pas. It was my privilege and pleasure to have known and worked with such a classy, smart, no-nonsense-but-always-fair professional for so many years. God bless.

I wrote on behalf of my mom yesterday. My family and I are so sad for Mary Lou's family and friends. She was a very special person to us, and especially to my mom. My mom would really like to speak to one of Mary Lou's cousins if possible. I would very much appreciate if someone could email me at [email protected] so I can provide my mom's phone number. Again, my heartfelt condolences to all of Mary Lou's loved ones for your loss.

I'm so very sad to hear this news about my childhood friend Mary Lou. We met in kindergarten and were lifelong friends. I'd been trying to get in touch with Mary Lou since Christmas. We had spoken right before and she sounded fine. We were making plans to get together this summer in place of our annual Christmas lunch.

I would be very grateful if one of Mary Lou's relatives or close friends could reach out to me. Heartfelt condolences to all of her loved ones.

Warm regards,
Carol Fanelli

Mary Lou was definitely one of a kind! Her friendship was deeply treasured coupled with memories of many wonderful trips, dinners and lunches shared. She will be sorely missed, but her legacy never forgotten. I'm sure she's in heaven telling St. Peter a thing or two and having a drink with my hubby, Walter.
