Matthew Dollinger Obituary

1943 - 2016
Matthew Dollinger, Esq. died peacefully surrounded by family on June 23, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 73.

Beloved husband of Diana; devoted father of Joyce, Neal, Alicia, Kenny and Marc; grandfather of Adam, Sam, Brandon and Samantha; great-grandfather of Jeremy and Ayla. Cherished brother of Sondra and Stephen Seidman and Judith and Arthur Goldman. Loving uncle to Jessica, Scott, Mary-Ann, Neil, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Beth, Deborah and Danny; great-uncle to Jacob, Jayden, Emerson, Ellis and Mason. Adored nephew of Phyllis and Arthur Ohlstein and a dear cousin.

Born March, 22, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Eleanor Dollinger. Earned a BA from Long Island University in 1966 and, following in his father's footsteps, a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1969. Admitted to the Bars of New York and Florida. Founding member of Dollinger, Gonski and Grossman where he enjoyed practicing law with his partners, Floyd G. Grossman, Dennis M. Gonski and Michael J. Spithogiannis.

A great friend and advocate. Fiercely loyal, dedicated, devoted, honest, admired, beloved, a true force to be reckoned with. Generous heart and spirit. A friend indeed to any friend in need. Devoted to his family and the person to go to whenever a crisis-big or small-arose.

A renowned attorney respected by all. An advocate beyond compare. He had points to make and he made them. His devotion to his clients almost rivaled his devotion to family. At work most days and on call all times.

A true marvel who made better the lives of those he touched. Hundreds if not thousands of clients over a 45-year career can attest to that. His family can attest to much more.

He made a difference and will be sorely missed. He will forever live on in our hearts and souls through the valuable lessons he taught us, the wonderful stories he told us, and the good times he shared with us.

It was a privilege to know and share love with such a great man. He was a true gentleman.

May you find comfort in knowing that God is close to those who are brokenhearted. He understands the pain you are feeling and can help you to endure in ways that you can't even imagine. Trust in him and he will be your rock (2 Samuel 22:3).
