MELISSA GORDON

GORDON--Dr. Melissa, Dr. Melissa Gordon passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, from complications of metastatic breast cancer. She was born on August 27, 1948 to Dr. Alvin Gordon and Elaine (Isaacson) Gordon, and raised in New York City. Melissa was a graduate of Hunter College Elementary School, Riverdale Country School and Briarcliff College, and received a PhD in Child Psychology from NYU where, after she graduated, she trained and supervised doctoral students for many years and taught as an instructor in the Educational Psychology Department. Before beginning graduate school, she worked as a science teacher at the Brearley School and then, for the past 43 years, as a school psychologist at the Village Community School in the West Village, as well as consulting with several child-art organizations and working privately as a parent consultant. Melissa is survived by her husband Christopher Culler, her daughter Camilla Culler, her brother Todd Gordon (Susan Feder), her nieces and nephews, Basia Gordon, Sam Gordon, Lisa Tripician and Christina Tripician, and many dearly beloved and generous friends. The enduring impact that she had in the lives of literally thousands of children is immeasurable. She was genuinely loved by so many. A memorial service will be held for Melissa in the coming weeks.
