Michael Minor Obituary

1940 - 2016
Michael Minor, Actor and Singer, passed away January 28, 2016

On Thursday, January 28, 2016, Michael Minor, actor and singer, best known for his roles on Petticoat Junction and All my Children, and numerous other successful shows, passed away peacefully at his residence in New York City. He was 75.

Michael Minor was the eldest son of the famous television producer, Don Fedderson and Tido (Minor) Fedderson.

Michael was born in San Francisco and began voice lessons in 1953 at the age of 13. His first singing job was at Ye Little Club in Beverly Hills where he was engaged for two weeks and held over for 10 weeks. He attended University High School in Los Angeles and Brown Military Academy in San Diego. His singing career continued with engagements at Bimbo's in San Francisco, The Rat Fink Room in New York, The Elegante in Brooklyn and the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. He also appeared numerous times singing on the Johnny Carson Show.

Michael continued his music career and in 1966 made two successful albums, "The Sensational Mike Minor" and "This is Mike Minor". Additional single hits included "Silver Dollar", "Ace in the Hole" as well as "One Day at a Time".

Michael also sang the theme song for Henry Fonda's "The Smith Family" one of Michael's fathers TV shows.

In 1968, Michael made his stage debut, playing the romantic lead in The Impossible Years with Ozzie and Harriet Nelson. Other stage performances included Neil Simon's play, "Rumors" as well as "The Perfect Crime" where he retired from in 2004.

Michael was best known for his role as, "Steve Elliott" on Petticoat Junction (1966-1970) where eventually married "Betty Jo," Linda Kaye Henning, both on and off the series. They were married for five years. Among his other credits were The Donald O'Conner Show, The Beverly Hillbillies, My Three Sons, Chips, Vegas and LA Law. In the 70's and 80's Michael took on daytime television with Edge of Night, As the World Turns, Another World and All my Children.

Michael was an avid golfer and was a true athlete in his youth. He was a member of the Hollywood Hackers, an organization of show-biz golfers who traveled around the country playing at choice golf courses and entertaining the spectators.

Michael is survived by his son John (from his former marriage with Monyeen Martini) and daughter in law Lisa Minor of Ashland, Oregon, three grandchildren, Shane Minor, Morgan Minor, Taylor Minor and one great grandchild Krew Minor; brother, Dana Fedderson and sister in law Marlene Fedderson of Huntington Beach, Ca; brother Brian Schmidt of Dana Point, CA; his sisters Monya Clenard of North Hollywood, CA; Dionne Fedderson Najafi of Paradise Valley, AZ.

Michael lived his passion both on and off stage. He had an amazing career and a life full of friendships, family and love. He truly left his mark by touching the hearts and souls of so many. He will be missed by all!

Gosh! Where do I begi? I am 63 years old and I remember our family watching Petticoat Junction in my early years. Reruns were when I was in 5th grade. I could hardly wait to get home to watch the episode of that day. Petticoat Junction and My Three Sons are warm memories from my past. Full of morals, values, and family!!!!

To Marilyn Minor, and Mike's family: I know all of you know x what a national treasure Mike was. I was sad that he had died of cancer... such a terrible disease. Please know he will be remembered ever-so-fondly by the tv-viewing public. Petticoat Junction is a classic that will go down in history as one of the greats. Many of us want to go to Hooterville to live forever, with all the quirky characters, and the ever-sane Mike! Warmest of hugs from my own little Hooterville (being invaded by and ruined by city slickers. Ugh), Fondly, Teacher Julie B.

I have been crazy about Mike Minor since the 1960's , watching Petticoat Junction. I am just finding out about his passing & cannot begin to express how sad I am. I was lucky enough to have gotten the chance to see a play he was in, in the 1980's in Washington DC. I bought an album of his & treasure it til this day. When I found out he was staring in the play in NY around 2009, I so wanted to get to NY & see him in that play! Was disappointed to find out that he had retired, but was encouraged when I was told that he sometimes still came to performances. I'm so sad that I didn't get up there to see him perform again! To this day, I watch Petticoat Junction on tv & watch videos on YouTube of him singing & acting. I will have a place in my heart for him as long as I live! Would love for CBS to release Season 4 thru 6 of Petticoat Junction for his fans to enjoy! The years he was on the show were the best of the series! So very sorry for his passing & his family's loss! He was a true star on this earth & now he's a star in heaven!

My heart goes out to the Fedderson-Minor family. I have never shared this with anyone. I recall having met Mr. Minor and his former wife Linda when I was 8 years old. They did a charity event in Albany NY. They were the first celebrities( From Hollywood) I had ever met. They were so nice to my dad and I. I also recall the roll Mr. Minor played on the daytime soap All My Children as Brandon Kingsley. Mr. Minor was a true talent. He will be missed.

February 5, 2016

Mike had charisma. He was so very talented and a joy to watch.
He packed a lot of living into 75 years because he was blessed with a loving family and gracious personality. Mike will be in hearts and still on televisions everywhere, forever young, as he is in Heaven.
He was and is, the real deal.
Deepest condolences to his family, in their loss. You are his legacy, most of all.

For a man that helped shape the images of how a gal should be treated and set the example for others to follow, immortalized in film, never to grow old, or be forgotten only to be revered and cherished as wonderful childhood memories relived in reruns and stories told across the table, this is the legacy that this man offers to people all over that he didn't even know, To the family and friends that knew Michael he must have been so much more, to have been loved and shared with and by so many his gifts and talent will be forever remembered by all of us that were blessed by his light shinning on our day. Petticoat Junction was such a seemingly small piece of who he truly was but had a huge impact on what we are today, we have all been blessed just a little bit more for having him in our memories. God be with you and prayers for the family that's left behind, may your sadness be short lived as the truth of his life turns to celebrate who he was to each of you and all of us.
