MICHAEL ROSENFELD Obituary

ROSENFELD--Michael J. Known for his love of words, ideas and family, Michael J. Rosenfeld, born in Jerusalem in 1922. He celebrated his 100th birthday on August 10th and was surrounded by his entire family when he passed. Devoted to his wife Barbara Weitzman Rosenfeld, z"l, for 55 years. Best known for engaging with life's biggest questions, sharp wit and liberal views, he was an avid reader and passionate about classical music. At the card table playing gin rummy or bridge, he was admired for this prowess. He established his law firm Kalb Rosenfeld and Essig and practiced into his 80s. A writer his entire life, starting with short stories written in the Army and throughout law school, followed by frequent letters, most notably to his children Shari (and Yoni Barnhard) and Deena (and Jeff Friedman) and his nine grandchildren and two great- grandchildren, to whom he was affectionately known as Pops. Handwritten letters were later replaced by email when at the age of 90, his group of friends (known as the BOYZ) gifted him an iPad and his writing took off. He published his book "It's Yesterday Already" at the age of 99, capturing his deep contemplation of the world. May his memory be a blessing.
