GERBER--Miriam Alberts.

February 9, 1918 - December 9, 2015. Born to Yorkville tailors who said, "Mindel, in your lifetime, the Second Avenue Subway will never be finished." High school graduate who painted clocks with radium, striver who lied about being Jewish to a zipper factory, bookkeeper who added sums in her head. Championed education, medicine, candor; loved card games, soup dumplings, Broadway, mysteries. Mother to David, Rosanne and Ellen, stepmother to Toni, grandmother to 10, great-grandmother to five. To your strength, to blazing a trail for us - 9:30am today at Riverside.
