ONYX ORTON

ORTON--Onyx. On March 4, 2023, a dear light left this world. Onyx Orton, 73, was always kind-hearted, ultra sophisticated, yet down to earth, and unapologetically herself. Onyx passed away after a long battle with small cell lung cancer. Onyx was predeceased by her mother, Margaret "Marney" Orton; her father, George "Jak" Orton; her new-born son, Spencer Orton. Growing up in NYC, Onyx went to Lycee Francais de New York and the Performing Arts High School. Onyx and Jak owned Orton & Orton Designs and worked around the world as highly skilled and talented interior decorators. Before entering the world of decorating, Onyx dabbled in acting. Onyx retired to Norfolk, CT. Her many friends in both worlds will miss her dearly. Onyx is survived by cousins Kathy Loring, Tyrrell Hunter, Susan Peters, Margaret Chassie, and their families; her significant other, Richard Dubois; and her beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Hudson Lifflander. On Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 3pm, a Memorial Service will be held at the Unitarian Church of All Souls, 1157 Lexington Ave. in New York. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local Humane Society.
