PATRICIA MOSLE FRIEDMAN Obituary

FRIEDMAN--Patricia Mosle,

of New York, NY, and Pecos, NM passed away on March 15th, 2018, after an intense battle with cancer. She died peacefully, in her sleep, surrounded by her family's love. Born in Litchfield, CT, to A. Henry Mosle and Jane Magor Mosle, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Columbia University where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and awarded a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship. She later received her M.A. from the Institute of Fine Arts, and spent several years as an adjunct professor at Hunter College where she taught Impressionism and Post Impressionism. She earned a Certificate of Achievement from The New York School of Interior Design and freelanced as an interior designer with Stroheim and Romann. Passionate about the arts as a whole, Pat excelled as a student and teacher of Middle Eastern Dance, and performed several times at Lincoln Centre under her stage name, Patrima. For the past 30 years, Pat truly loved being a Docent at The Metropolitan Museum, serving as Chair of the Collection Tour Program from 2008-2010. She served as a guide in the High School Program, and an adult tour guide in Highlights, Impressionism, Post Impressionism, and Modern & Contemporary. She was perpetually inspired by the works of art that she covered, and rejoiced in the constant sense of ongoing discovery and learning. She was a Colonial Dame, a Sustainer of The Junior League of New York where she was named Volunteer of The Year, a Founding Member of the Board of the National Dance Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and sat for many years on the Board of The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependance. Pat is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roger, their daughter, Amanda, son, Randall, daughter-in-law, Tomomi, and twin granddaughters, Sasha and Myla. Pat will be remembered for her beauty, academic brilliance, vibrant energy, dancing, and joy. She was a rare being who inspired others to grow, and the best Wifey. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Volunteer Program at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Dear Roger, Randall and Amanda. I was so disheartened to learn Pat had passed away. Her love, dedication and zest for life gave her such an inner bloom that, simply through knowing Pat, all of us have been able to bloom in our own lives.

One of my many happy memories of Pat Friedman

Tim and Roger used to go riding in the Pecos Wilderness almost every week in the summer and one time they were going to end their ride in Las Vegas, NM. Pat and I were to meet them for dinner there in the evening and got to Las Vegas before we were to meet them. To pass the time we, upon Pat's suggestion, went into an old dusty secondhand store, where I had my doubts about finding anything of interest. Not so Pat. She saw the store as full of marvelous potential treasures and it was! She found a retro martini shaker, just the gift she had been looking for for Roger, and a white feather boa she really needed for a 1920-ies upcoming party. I also found something. It was as if the store became enchanted and full of treasures with Pat there. And that is how Pat was she brought enchantment to the everyday. I miss you Pat tremendously.

Dearest Amanda,
I remember your joyful, beautiful mother so well. She was lit from within, her smile ever present. I'm sending you lots of love and my most sincere sympathies. One of my fondest memories was when you and I were at the Lotus Club and your mother danced for us! We must have been about 10.
