Patrick was bigger than big.
He read the LA Times daily and The NY Times every Sunday. He enjoyed hard cover novels by Walter Mosley, Michael Chabon, Tana French and Jo Nesbo. He did crossword puzzles daily and never missed Jeopardy. He never wanted to go to sleep because he was afraid he might miss something. He loved his friends dearly and wept when one died. I’m grateful for the time together these past 30+ years.
I am a better person because of him.
Cheers Paddy Mac

I met the infamous Pat at CSULB in 1975. He stayed kind and honorable, a rare quality for any person. He spoke so joyously about Nola and Liam, and would light up when saying their names. Fortunately, I last spent time with him just before the pandemic. Patrick was the kind of person who left his handprint on your heart. Heaven got a good one

.....RIP Patrick McNally and condolences to his family and close friends and there'd be a bunch in the US rugby brotherhood/community...crossed paths with the man often during my stint coaching the Huntington Bch Unicorns...a super nice guy , knowledgable about our game and had plenty of the gentleman in the man....

Paddy Mac was one of those special human beings that even if you only saw once a year, you were excited for it.
He always remembered you and would take time to chat. I will miss seeing him and saying hi to him greatly. He used to stay with my dad back when my dad was able to referee, and I loved joking with them that the only time I could stomach spending time alone with two referees was when it was them. Hopefully they are both reffing games together in spirit now.

Paddy Mac was such a great teacher, friend and person. I feel blessed to have known him and so happy that I got a nickname from he and John Curry (Cindy-Lu). We will all miss him but I feel certain that in the grand scheme of things we’ll meet again.
Condolences to all his family, you lost a wonderful soul.

Patrick was one of the nicest humans I was lucky enough to know. Back in the early 80’s in Belmont Shore he was fun to watch and take pictures of on the rugby field and enjoyed our conversations off the field. The world lost an amazing man. RIP my friend. Condolences to all family and close friends.

Paddy was the kind of friend that transforms your life. His easy manner, his ever present smile, his curiosity, his interest in what you had to say, everything in him was an invitation to share, to open your eyes to the world as he saw it. Nothing was about him, everything was about us, all of us. I miss him terribly, but at the same time, he lives in me and inspires me to be a better person.
