I knew and loved this man for the gentle, loving soul he was. His talent and love of the theater helped shape my life as an actor. You will always be in my heart and sorely missed.

Fear no more the heat o’ th’ sun
Nor the furious winters’ rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta’en thy wages.
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.
The sceptre, learning, physic, must
All follow this and come to dust.
William Shakespeare
A brilliant artist, very well read, and passionate
about his civic responsibilities, Peter was a loyal
and generous friend in good and bad times.
His optimism and humor were a great support for me.
He also was fiercely independent and preferred the
anonymity and the vigorous life style that his beloved
city of New York had to offer.
However, he spent many a spring and fall in
Niagara-on-the-Lake, where he soaked up the beauty
and tranquility of country life, and the rhythm of the
ever changing seasons.
His spirit will always remain here.

Great Uncle Peter will be sadly missed. We shared many happy years of correspondence together. He touched many lives both personally and professionally in the world of Theatre. His work as a set designer on Broadway, Winnipeg and around the World brought a lot of joy to peoples lives. We will miss his wit and charm and lots of wonderful letters. I can honestly say Peter loved his city of Manhattan, and anyone who ever visited him will agree he was New York's finest tour guide. Our thoughts are with his sister Irene Wingate of England. Peter will always be in our hearts. Michael, Karyn and Max Rawnsley of Derbyshire, England.
