POSOON P. SUNG

SUNG--Posoon Park, professor, philosopher, and prominent fine artist whose paintings and drawings explored life's spiritual journey, evolution, and transformation, died on August 8 in Seoul, Korea. She was 67. The cause was breast cancer, her family said. In addition to representation at June Kelly Gallery in SOHO, New York City, Park Sung was an artist-in-residence at Gana Art Gallery in Seoul. She was a fine arts professor at the University of Tampa and Incheon Catholic University, Seoul where she taught and inspired countless students. Throughout her life she exemplified courage, strength, dignity and immense principle as she carried on as a breast cancer survivor for twenty-three years with grace. For this and more, she was a role model to many. Park Sung lived and worked out of Seoul, South Korea, New York City, and Tampa, Florida. She received a BFA from Hong-Ik University, College of Art in Seoul and an MFA from The Pennsylvania State University. Park Sung has participated in numerous one-person and group exhibitions throughout the United States, Japan, and South Korea. Her work is represented in many corporate and private collections, including the Ottchelli Museum, Tongyeong, South Korea; Gana Art Center, Seoul, South Korea; the University of Tampa; Benihana Corporation, Miami; Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, New York; Jinmyeong Girls' High School, Seoul, and Avon Product Research Development Center, Suffern, New York. Park Sung is survived by her loving husband, Myung-Hak Sung, who resides in Seoul and Tampa, Florida and by her two devoted sons Peter and Matthew Sung, both who reside in New York City.
