BENDINER--Robert, died peacefully at 99. Magazine writer, author. Managing Editor, The Nation, member Editorial Board, NY Times. We will miss his warmth, whimsy, and wisdom. Leaves son, David, daughter, Peggy Margoshes, grandson, Elliot Margoshes, and many others who loved him. Memorial planned.

I spent a day with him about a year and a half ago in connection with a book I'm writing. He was so wonderful, so charming, and, I think, thrilled to have someone want to hear his stories (which were great). I left just wishing he had been closer to my home so I could visit again.
