ROBERT GIOIA Obituary

GIOIA--Robert. On Monday, February 24, 2025, Robert Vincent Gioia, devoted husband, father, grandfather, Vietnam veteran and coolest cat around passed away at the age of 78 at home, surrounded by his family. Bob was born on December 11, 1946 in Brooklyn. For the majority of his life, he was a successful executive in the plumbing contracting business, but for those that knew him, he was much more than that. An avid gardener, lover of good food and cooking, car and motorcycle enthusiast, stylish dresser with impeccable taste, music fan, beach goer, sun lover, traveler, advice giver, Mr. Fixit, father-figure to many, first mate and loyal friend. He built a beautiful life for himself and his family. He was absolutely one of a kind and will forever be missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Laurie (Grossman), parents Mary and James and brother Vincent. He is survived by his children William (Karen), Sascha Springer and Gianna (David), and grandchildren Julian, Fernando and Pia. A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Donations in his memory can be sent to www.newyorkersfor children.org

I loved Bob and Laurie so very much. All who know Bob will understand when I remember staying with them many times in London, he would always shine his shoes at home before we drove to work together! He taught me how to properly place cut flowers in a vase and turned me on to Muddy Waters! We are all blessed by his presence. Those in heaven are lucky to have them now. I'm glad he and Laurie can be together again.
