ROBERT GRAFF Obituary

GRAFF--Robert D. The Council and membership of the Grolier Club are deeply saddened at the death of long- time Grolier member and past president Robert D. Graff on January 27 at the age of 99. A Club member since 1965, "Bob" sat on the Grolier Club Council from 1968 to 1990, including a term as president (1978-1982); was a Publications Committee member for a dozen years, chairing it for half of that time; chaired the Centennial Committee from 1983 to 1984; and served time as the editor of the "Gazette of the Grolier Club." He held two member's exhibitions at the Club based on his own collections, and until he gave up active collecting had many interests, including a wide variety of 20th-century American, British and Irish authors, as well as books and prints about the U.S. Virgin Islands, contemporary art, and Chinese porcelain. In recognition of his many contributions to the Grolier Club, Bob was elected an Honorary Member in 2003. He was pre-deceased by his wife Marjorie Graff, herself a Grolier member from 1982 until her death in 2009. The Council of the Grolier Club joins with Bob's many friends and colleagues in extending heartfelt sympathy to his family. Bruce Crawford, President, The Grolier Club
