Robert Grigg IV Obituary

1967 - 2020
Robert D. Grigg IV, 53, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020 in New York City. While his family is left grieving, they proudly celebrate his vibrant life.

Born on February 9, 1967 in Bethesda, Maryland to Robert D. Grigg III and the late Margaret Dwyer Grigg, Rob graduated from Winston Churchill High School, a competitive and exceptional athlete. He went on to Wake Forest University where he met his wife Allison, played for the men's soccer team, joined Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and became a lifelong Deacon fan. He graduated in 1989 with a B.A. in Economics. After receiving an MBA from the University of Maryland in 1993, he began his career in New York City. At his death, he was a widely respected Executive Director at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, having been with the bank for 27 years.

A lover of the outdoors, Rob treasured time spent in Central Park, along the C&O Canal, and at Litchfield Beach. Rob was happiest with his family. He was an ever-present fan on the sidelines of his daughters' athletic competitions and was enormously proud of the beautiful young women they have become. Rob's family and friends will long remember his terrific smile, his contagious laugh, his delight in the practical joke, and his love of cooking.

Rob is survived by his wife of 26 years, Allison Reid Grigg, and daughters, Margaret (Maggy) Childress Grigg and Ashley Reid Grigg; father, Robert D. Grigg III; sisters Jennie M. Grigg and Stacey Grigg Saidy (Tom); and nieces, Margaux and Jane Saidy.

Memorials in his honor may be made to the Central Park Conservancy at 14 East 60th St., New York, NY 10022 or online at www.centralparknyc.org/honor.

Rest In Peace Rob. Condolences and best wishes to his family.

I worked with Rob when he was in equity sales at JP Morgan and stayed in touch with him when he transferred to the private bank. Watched his kids grow up through his annual Holiday cards. He was always cheerful and spoke very fondly of his daughters. So sorry for your loss.

Robert Dinwiddee Grigg IV was a treasured friend. He was literally the first person I met at Wake Forest. We competed in soccer long before anyone showed up for freshman year at Wake, but it also gave us times to forge a lifelong bond.

We were pledge brothers, teammates and KE leadership in our four years. Robbie G was good counsel and a quick laugh. He was a sneaky prankster but a good sport when the tables where turned. He was a good man.

All my love to you, Allison. May your family find peace in Rob’s memory

Robert Dinwiddie Grigg IV was a treasured friend of mine. He was literally the first person I met at Wake Forest, at our first soccer practice before freshman year. We were both goalkeepers and competed, but we found out we had a lot in common (including high school friends) and forged a partnership. That bond would last throughout our time playing soccer, pledging, academics and fraternity leadership. Robbie G provided good counsel and a ready smile. He was a sneaky practical joker but a good sport when tables were turned. He will be missed but never forgotten. All my love to Allison and his daughters.

We are still in disbelief about Rob’s death. When we think of our Cousin Robbie, my sister Claire and I inevitably envision an energetic and fun-loving child, with bright flashing eyes and a wide grin. It was in our childhoods that we knew him best. We will always remember the many wonderful summer visits to Walnut Grove. There we played and swam in the pool with Cousins Robbie, Jennie, and Stacey. We remember special holiday family meals together in the dining room, casual gatherings on the large screened in side porch, and meeting Allison for the first time. Our hearts and prayers are with all the family.

Hello:

My names is Bruce and I had the pleasure of working with Rob over the last 6 years. While our time together was brief, we did partner together on many client and prospect situations.

In prepping for situations Rob would always provide something unique or nuanced on a client or prospect that would lead to terrific outcomes.

He was an amazing listener and instructor; I will miss partnering with him.

My sympathies and thoughts go out to all of you.

Best,
Bruce Robb

Allison, just so shocked and saddened to hear the news this weekend. As you could imagine Siggie nation was sending messages, tears, and prayers about the loss of our beloved brother. Prayers and thoughts go out to you and your girls and just know you have an entire brotherhood here for support for you. I remember most about your husband a constant smile and many good times with fellow KEs in school and in your visits back to campus. Take care and love, thoughts and prayers to you and your girls, Mike "Bobo" Brown.

Robbie G....was a great friend, brother and mentor. Rob taught me that hard work would make you a winner, when talent alone wasn't enough. He was a competitor, whether it was sports, or school, or career. He cared deeply for everyone he touched. And so many of us will miss his infectious smile and his desire to listen when you needed to be heard, often times when you didn't realize it. Wishing I had stayed closer over the years. Love you and miss you brother.
