ROBERT ROSS Obituary

ROSS--Robert H. Robert H. Ross, age 84, of New York City, died on February 14, 2025. He leaves behind many loved ones including his wife, Patricia Lahrmer Ross; daughters Melanie Ross and Jennifer Ross; grandsons Jules Rosenberg and Oliver Cho; sons-in-law Andrew Rosenberg and David Cho; and brother Art Ross and partner Mya Jones. He was a loving and beloved family man who took great pride in his daughters and grandsons. He died in peace, sitting on the living room sofa with his newspaper. The day before, he celebrated Valentine's Day with Patricia, the love of his life, at an elegant restaurant lunch. Born in the Bronx in 1940, he lived a full life in three countries, America, England and Belgium. He graduated from Hunter College with a BA in mathematics and the NYU Stern School of Business with an MBA. He co-founded the first computer dating service for young adults in New York City in 1967 and then pursued a career in trade finance and international banking. In midlife, he created an international conference business to provide continuing education for tax executives. He was an avid athlete who excelled at racquet sports, played softball in London, and golfed in Westchester and Florida, making lasting friendships through each pastime. He enjoyed skiing with his daughters in the Alps, Rockies, and Vermont. Bob was a lifelong Yankees fan, regular US Open attendee, devoted theatergoer, consumer of financial news and lover of the New York Botanical Garden. Always stylish and playful, he could frequently be seen on the dance floor, particularly during his expat years, moving to a disco beat with his wife. He traveled the world for business and pleasure with his wife and on family vacations, eager to explore new cities. Above all, he cherished time with family and friends in Manhattan, Florida, and Scarsdale, and kept ties with friends made in London and Brussels, where he lived for 14 years. When his life was threatened by a fatal lung disease, he battled with courage until a new lung could be found. After receiving a transplant at Columbia Presbyterian, he lived the last decade of his life with gratitude at his good fortune, enjoying time with loved ones and all life had to offer.

Bob was an old friend and tennis teammate and foe at County Tennis in Scarsdale, as well as at a long-standing indoor game in Yonkers. He was always competitive and always interesting to talk with before and after matches. His loss is significant. I offer heartfelt condolences to his family.
