ROBERT WILMERS Obituary
died suddenly on December 16, 2017. Mr. Wilmers is survived by his wife of 20 years, Elisabeth Roche Wilmers, his son Christopher (Serena), and his grandsons Dylan and Theodore. He was predeceased by his son Robert G. Wilmers, Jr. Mr. Wilmers is also survived by four step- children: Camille de Wouters (Dr. Antoine van Couter), Guillaume de Wouters (Marta Olalde), Juliette Chevalier (Jerome) and Charlotte de Coupigny (Alexandre), along with eleven stepgrandchild- ren. Mr. Wilmers served as Chairman and CEO of M&T Bank since 1983. A Mass will be held in memory of Mr. Wilmers on Thursday, December 21 at 1pm at St Bartholomew's Church, 325 Park Avenue between 50 and 51 Street, New York City. A memorial service is being planned in Buffalo, NY in January. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Wilmers' memory may be made to: Albright-Knox Art Gallery, 1285 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222-1096. Westminster Community Charter School, P.O. I will miss your visits to Binghamton, NY. Always enjoyed seeing you and having the chance to thank you for hiring me in Buffalo in 1986. I moved to Buffalo to be with my husband who attended UB Dental school. We then moved to Binghamton NY. When M&T opened in our area, we transferred all of our banking to M&T out of loyalty! Thanks again Mr. Wilmers. I'm sure you are with loved ones in heaven, watching over the ones you left behind.
