RONALD FELDMAN

FELDMAN--Ronald. 1938--2022. Passionate proponent of the arts and freedom of expression, art dealer Ronald Feldman passed away peacefully on December 20, 2022, ending his battle with Alzheimer's. Ron was deeply dedicated to family, friends, and artists from around the globe. He is survived by his wife, Frayda Feldman, and children Mark and Nikki Feldman, Andy and Lisa Feldman and Julie Golovcsenko, and grandchildren Ethan, Charlotte, Jonah, Sam, Nathan, Lucas, Warren, and Roxanne. Ron was born in the Bronx and grew up in Long Beach, New York. After earning degrees from Syracuse University and NYU Law School, he co-founded with Frayda and led the renowned Ronald Feldman Gallery in New York City. Over five decades, he advanced the careers of hundreds of influential artists including Eleanor Antin, Joseph Beuys, and Hannah Wilke. Throughout the 1980's he collaborated with Andy Warhol to conceptualize and publish iconic portfolios of prints and paintings including Ten Jews, Myths, Ads, and Endangered Species. Although Ron retired in 2019, the Ronald Feldman Gallery continues to honor and advance his legacy. Ron was active in politics for more than 30 years and galvanized the power of the artworld to drive change. Appointed by President Clinton, Ron served as a member of the National Council on the Arts and also served on the boards of People for the American Way, Creative Capital, the Art Dealers Association of America, and The New School's Vera List Center for Art and Politics, among many others.
