RUTH TAUBMAN Obituary

TAUBMAN--Ruth. Philanthropist and co-founder of the Ruth and Edward Taubman Early Childhood Center, dies at the age of 98 on August 13, 2022 in Boca Raton. Ruth grew up in the Bronx and Brooklyn, NY. She met her husband, Ed in 1947 and raised their children, Claudia and Eric in Manhasset, Long Island. When Ed retired from Key Food in 1984, they settled in Boca Raton where they joined B'nai Torah Congregation. There, Ruth continued her involvement in multiple Jewish causes with her philanthropy including Hadassah, Jewish Federation, Jewish National Fund, Simon Wiesenthal Center, Yemin Orde, The Yiddish Book Center and March for the Living, serving on several boards. Her greatest joy was founding the Ruth and Edward Taubman Early Childhood Center at B'nai Torah Synagogue with her husband Ed, shortly before his death in 1996. Ruth's generosity was not limited to institutional giving; she personally changed the lives of two young boys, funding their education at the Center and beyond. She is survived by her daughter, Claudia and son-in-law Walter, son Eric and daughter-in- law Joni, grandchildren Gabriel, Eli and Zoe, and great- grandchildren Noa and Andromeda. Donations can be made to the Ruth and Edward Taubman Early Childhood Center, 6261 SW 18th Street, Boca Raton, FL 33433 https://btcboca.shulcloud.com/payment.php or to a charity of your choice. Ruth touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all.
