SANDRA KLEIN

KLEIN--Sandra F. Veteran New York City radio newscaster, pioneering podcast host of "Conversations with Creative Women," and beloved mother and grandmother, Sandi Klein died, after a long battle with cancer, at home in Teaneck, New Jersey on October 14, 2022, surrounded by family. She was 73 years old. Graduate of NYU, Sandi built her 30-year career with stints at numerous New York City radio stations, including nearly 20 years as an anchor at 1010 WINS. She launched her podcast in 2012 and went on to interview more than 500 creative women. Sandi was an organizer, avid supporter and panel moderator of the Teaneck International Film Festival, which is being dedicated to her this year; an enthusiastic Teaneck community member; and an activist, working at times for gun control, women's and refugee rights. In addition to her love of theatre, museums and travel, Sandi cherished spending time with her family - son Matthew, daughter-in-law Katie Winter, and grandchildren, Ella and Clara, whom she adored, and son Seth and his partner Marina Salguero. Sandi was married for 42 years to New York City Housing Court Judge Jerald "Jerry" R. Klein, who she lost to leukemia in 2015. Besides her sons and grandchildren, Sandi is survived by her mother and brother, Naomi and Richard Fisherman; Hara, Vicki, and David Klein; a large extended family; and countless friends and admirers, each with a special story of how Sandi impacted their lives. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 9:45am at Teaneck's Temple Emeth.
