Sudhakar Bhatt Obituary

1929 - 2022
Sudhakar Jayantilal Bhatt was born in the spring of 1929 in the telegraph masters quarters at the railway station near Ranpur, India and passed away unexpectedly in his home in Deerfield Beach, FL on February 26th 2022.
He grew up in Bhavnagar, India and emigrated to the United States of America to pursue graduate studies at Columbia University in N.Y.C. where he became a citizen and lived for several decades before retiring to South Florida in 1992. He enjoyed so many things in life: history, traveling, learning about different cultures, playing bridge, playing and watching golf and tennis, cooking, sharing and eating good food. Even in his nineties, he could be found knocking on a neighbor's door with a plate of steaming hot, freshly cooked food to share.
He valued social structure that fostered cooperation for the common good and was fortunate to, through work assignments, help foster that. He appreciated art in all forms and enjoyed writing, especially poetry.
He is survived by his daughters, Maya Bhatt-Hardcastle of Sanbornton, NH and Bhavna Gohel of Dallas, TX, two brothers, Chandrakant J. Bhatt and Maheshchandra J. Bhatt and one sister, Madhumati J. Patel all in Charlotte, NC and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews all who cherish his memory.
A private memorial service will be held later this year.
