SUE VAN DE BOVENKAMP Obituary

VAN DE BOVENKAMP--Sue Erpf, noted art and environmental philanthropist and president of the Armand G. Erpf charitable foundation, died peacefully April 2nd in her Park Avenue apartment at the age of 82. Born on October 16, 1928 in New York, she attended Cooper Union Art School, then moved to Rome, where she painted portraits, modeled for the fashion house of Valentino and acted in films such as La Dolce Vita. Upon her return to the U.S., she met and married Armand G. Erpf, the late pioneering New York financier and advisor to U.S. presidents. A resident of the Upper East Side for over forty years, Mrs. Erpf Van de Bovenkamp was an avid supporter of New York City museums and cultural institutions such as the Whitney, The New York Public Library and The Museum of Modern Art. She was also an avid world traveller, antiques collector and nature advocate, with a great amount of her life spent at her beloved home in the Catskills. She was a driving force of the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development, the World Wildlife Fund and the Wildlife Conservation Society. She is survived by her daughter, Cornelia Erpf-Forsman of New York, her son, Armand Bartholomew Erpf of New York, and five grandchildren.
