There are no words that could describe what a tremendous loss this is for those of us that knew Tom, and for the numerous lives he touched. Tom leaves behind a impressive legacy by the work he did for the labor movement, the incredible devotion to his membership in local 817, the hundreds of children that benefited from a college education that he was innovative enough to collectively bargain for, and the extreme love and devotion he had for his family and friends. I was lucky enough to be counted amongst his friends and Tom was like a father to me and helped mentor me in my personal and professional life. For that I am forever thankful that he would assist me where needed and let me benefit from his friendship and knowledge. To be around Tom was something special and I always felt I was in the company of greatness when we spent time together. He forever changed the way i go about different aspects of my life and I will truly miss him and will always be geatful that he welcomed me into his life with a frienship that I cherished greatly. Tom was the example of the man I hope to be to others that I encounter in life and have the opportunity to assist. I will miss his friendship, his humor, his counsel and his good natured soul.
I wish much peace and comfort to his children and grandchildren during this difficult time and will keep you in my prayers.

To the greatest Teamster that ever lived. I thank you Tom for being a great mentor. No Teamster had the vision and strength that you possessed.May you rest in peace, my regrets to your family, and also your extended family of the members from Local 817, who adored you !
