Many fond memories. Of the years that he lived above the Yenching Restaurant in Cambridge. Like when we, claiming to be expert carpenters to the owners of the Yenching Restaurant, sawed through a water pipe in the middle of the night, flooding their store on Newberry Street.

I am very sad to hear this news. Tim created a wonderful sound field around him...distracting and eccentric...and then
at the center this tender, present and astonishing person.
While I was quite intimdated by Tim and felt very simple in
his presence I also felt that I was his friend and
that was a wonderful feeling. I am thankful for that. And I am grateful to his family for having loved and cherished him. My thoughts are with you.

No, no, no. I can't tell you the number of times I've done a Google search for Tim in the last...umpteen years. I was a classmate of his at Exeter and we spent a lot of time together in the art department. I still have a painting, yes, not a pen-and-ink, he did....I guess Buddy James made him work in color for a bit.... I remember his reactions to time spent in India over holidays, visiting his parents there...he was a sensitive, tough, gentle and brash young man. My condolences to his family.

I am saddened by the loss of dear classmate Tim Moynihan. I will never forget his creative fearlessness in our mutual classes at Exeter.
My condolences to the Moynihan family.
In memory of a wonderful person.

Because of the serendipity of our last names, at Exeter I sat next to Tim for years, and had the chance to see a lot of his creativity in random doodles in assemblies. He was funny, quirky, and phenomenally talented. I treasure the fact that he cartooned me, even though his eye and insights occasionally were more accurate than his subjects might have wished at the time! As with all artists, Tim saw truth through a wonderfully unique vision, and I have enjoyed his work for years. I know he will be missed. My condolences to his family.

I knew Tim at Exeter. He had an amazing and unique talent as a cartoonist, and as a person, and kept us all from taking ourselves too seriously. We reconnected last year through Facebook, and we had several "chats" about our lives and life in general. The world was a better place for his being in it.

Forty years ago, Tim was tearing around the Exeter campus on a bicycle -- always in a black suit and always as fast as he could possibly go. Figured he was a screwball. Then, when I was what they call an "Upper", or Junior, Tim got elected to be President of the Student Council. Student joke on the faculty, I thought. But I, too, was on the Student Council, and went to Tim one day to talk about an "issue" I thought was important -- dress code or laundry service or some such adolescent preppie nonsense; And to my utter surprise, he stopped and listened carefully and then supported whatever little cause I had on my juvenile mind. I was shocked. I never forgot that episode in my life. Hell, it made most of my hair fall out, apparently!
My point? People, even teens, can surprise you with respect and kindness and warmth despite the characters they (and we) portray to the world. I was nuts about the guy, is all I'd say. I'm keeping a good thought for Tim and his family.

I knew Timothy Moynihan many years ago in Paris at the Akademia Raymond Duncan on 31 Rue de Seine. It must have been in the mid 1980s. He was one of the most creative, quirky and intelligent people I've ever known. My deepest sympathy to his entire family.

May the God of all comfort strengthen the entire family during this time of sorrow. Those who die God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. (Psalms 116:15) My sincerest sympathy.
