Vance Lauderdale Jr.

LAUDERDALE--Vance Jr., M.D., of South Dartmouth, MA, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2008. The son of Vance and Katharine Browne Lauderdale, he was born September 11, 1923, in NYC. A graduate of Deerfield Academy and Harvard College (1945), he was assigned by the U.S. Army to complete his undergraduate education at Yale. After receiving his M.D. from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons (1947), he served as an Army lieutenant from 1950-1953. He was an attending in anesthesiology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center from 1953-1985 and a member of the NY County Medical Society board of censors from 1975-1985. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edith Rotch Lauderdale, his four sons, Vance Lauderdale III of Chicago, Bradley Lauderdale of Neenah, WI, Alan Lauderdale of Englewood, NJ and Kenneth Lauderdale of Lexington Park, MD, four grandchildren, and by his brother Gerald Lauderdale of Concord, MA. His memorial service will be on Saturday, August 23, at 11am at St. Aidans Chapel, South Dartmouth, MA. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust, P.O.
