Dear Candace,
I just learned of Billy's death. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your tremendous loss.
There is an old saying in Ireland "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal." I hope at some point you will comfort in your memories of Billy.

Billy was one of the nicest people I ever met as a youngster in the Five Towns. A big regret is that I didn’t keep in touch with him as an adult when my family moved away.

I just heard today of Billy's death. Although I only met him a few times while our sons attended high school together, I recall his intelligence, wit, wide ranging interests and generosity. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Dear Candace, Browning, and Nina-
I am sorry to hear the news about Billy. If I may, I would like to add one more picture to your galleryand one more activity to his impressive list of professional and recreational activities: Coach. As the picture shows Billy and I co-managed a Yorkville Little League team some years ago featuring our boys Browning, Will, and Andrew...coaching with him, in one word, was a blast! Lot of laughs and fun with the boys...and lot of chit chat thru the games and as you can see from the picture, even while the picture was taken he was likely telling me a story as both of our big mouths are open at the click of the camera. Sending you my deepest condolences.--Denny O'Hearn, NYC

I heard today of Billy's passing and even though I lost touch with Billy over the years, he's remained in my thoughts as one of the nicest, classiest people from my days in Lawrence, LI. Reading about what he accomplished throughout his life isn't a surprise. Just sad to hear the news, and that I didn't get to know him better in the ensuing years.

Dear Candace, Nina, and Browning, The news of Billy's death was a shock to my system. His name had just crossed my lips in a conversation with Steve Kram. Steve, Robert (Billy's old friend), Billy and I went to Acapulco back in the day. Steve and I reminisced. And of course I lived vicariously through Billy's frequent exotic forays. The last picture I noticed was around Bill's birthday, of he and Browning and Fly standing behind the back of a pick-up. He was a beautiful man. He was a delight to have as a friend. I cried for Billy. And here's a man I barely saw for many (too many) years. He left an indelible imprint though. Whenever I think of Hemingway, a shared passion, or a whiskey neat, among other touchstones, his joviality and deep voice will inevitably appear. He lives on. My deepest condolences. Please connect with me when you plan his service. [email protected]. Love, Jeffrey

Dear Candance,
I am in shock and so saddened to hear this news. Billy and I were close high school friends. We bonded over the death of Billy's dad during our junior year of high school, as I had lost my father some years earlier. Over a year ago now, Billy reaches out to me and we rekindled our friendship through text and email and I always looked forward to hearing of his adventures with Fly. My heart goes out to you. He was a loving, fun, and kindhearted man.

Dear Candace, Nina and Browning
We are all still in shock and truly heartbroken by Billy's passing. He was a great friend, a wonderful sportsman (we shared many good times in the field and on the river), a wonderful raconteur and in every way a true Gentleman. He will be deeply missed. Thoughts and prayers and our deepest sympathies.

I am so saddened to hear this news. I too attended Woodmere with Billy graduating one year behind. He was always the cool cat in the room.

Dear Candace, Nina and Browning,
I am heartbroken on your behalf to hear of Billy's passing. Billy always struck me as such a model father and husband, so this must be the most terrible loss imaginable for each of you.
I got to know Billy mostly on horseback. I treasure many fond memories of his gentlemanly manners, his sense of humor, his tales of travels to many distance parts as well as to beautiful estates in England or Scotland and also his tales of exciting hunts in Ireland.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Billy.

We lived five houses away from the Platt's on Church Ave in Woodmere,NY.I knew Billy since we were both three years old. From kindergarten through High School and we were always together with Peter Baum. Billy was the first to wear bell bottoms, have side burns, and wear Gucci loafers. He was fun gregarious had a great vocabulary, and was a good athlete. He had a wonderful sense of humor as well as being a great story teller. He was a modern day Hemingway to me. Our thoughts and prayers are with Candace, Nina, Browning and family as Billy will always be remembered in my heart.

My heart is heavy this morning upon hearing about the passing of my friend, Billy. Bill would call on every trip to Lancaster and ask me to clear my schedule for a proper dinner and a drink or three as we critiqued the world and laughed. I am so sad. My heart goes out to his wife and his two children who he adored beyond words.
