YECHIEL ECKSTEIN Obituary

ECKSTEIN--Rabbi Yechiel. The Yeshiva University family mourns the passing of Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein '68YUHS, '73YC, '75BR, '75R, z"l. Rabbi Eckstein will be remembered as a loyal alumnus and a role model for all Yeshiva University students in how he led his personal and professional lives and the tremendous work he has done for the community and to help Jewish causes in Israel, Europe, and elsewhere. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his mother Belle (Beila) Eckstein, his wife Joelle Eckstein and his children Tamar (and Nate), Talya (and Ari), and Yael (and Amichai); his siblings Ahuva (and Gary) Epstein, Rachayl "Rock" (and Rabbi Dr. Hillel) Davis, and Beryl Yisrael (and Doreen) Eckstein, and all their grandchildren. I would like to add this condolence though it is coming nearly 5 yrs later bc I was able to find the obituary on Legacy. I really loved Rabbi Yechiel bc he brought many christians and Jewish people together and gave us much understanding of each other. For many years I received the Shoresh, a newsletter he published for supporters of IFCJ. It gave me much joy and love for the nation of Israel. Finally I got to meet him when he came to talk at the WHME television station in South Bend Indiana and he gave all of us a free CD of his songs and also a beautiful piece of white rock from Jerusalem!! He was kind and generous and loving of people. He will never be forgotten - his legacy lives on!!

I deeply mourn the unexpected passing of Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein. I'm a proud member of the IFCJ, which he founded. A wonderful organization that has done so much good! I will continue to be a proud member in honor of his legacy. My sincerest sympathies to his family. You remain in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.
