ZAHA HADID Obituary
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation notes with sadness the death of Zaha Hadid, a longtime colleague of the museum and a bold visionary in world architecture. The first woman to be awarded the distinguished Pritzker Architecture Prize, she tested the boundaries of architecture, urbanism, and design through her pioneering work. Our relationship spanned more than two decades, beginning in 1992 with her installation design for The Great Utopia: The Russian and Soviet Avant-Garde, 1915-1932 and continuing through our 2006 retrospective of her work and her dazzling contribution to 2010's Contemplating the Void: Interventions in the Guggenheim Museum. Her passing is a profound and sudden loss to contemporary culture.

May she rest in peace. There are a handful of figures who, by pursuing their vision through craft in the highest of courage have deeply affected my trajectory in life. Zaha is one who has inspired me in ways beyond measure. I am so grateful that she became who she did. I will never have the honor to express my gratitude directly to her but I will continue to pursue my goals largely in light of her. My condolences to her loved ones - family to colleagues/ friends.
