Denise Simmons Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and sweet Glory that we announce the passing of Stephanie Denise Davis Simmons from this world to God's Dwelling Place. Denise, affectionately known as Mama Dee, Aunt Dee, Dee, and Stephanie met our Heavenly Father on May 13, 2025, at 3:16 PM in Opelika, AL, surrounded by close friends and family. Denise was 71 years old. Born in Opelika, AL, on February 28, 1954, to the late James Silas Davis and Billie Ann (Taunton) Smollon. For many years, Denise dedicated her life to serving the Lord and others through her active involvement in the local church, leading bible studies, and offering one-on-one mentoring. Alongside her husband, she was an owner and a pillar of Top Hat Chimney Sweeps for over 35 years. She is survived by her husband Jeffrey Trent Simmons; her children, Jessica Lauren Sardinas and her husband Rudy Sardinas and Trent Simmons and his wife Lindsay Hataway Simmons; her grandchildren, Beckham, Kiyah Dee and Nolan Sardinas, Creed, Sawyer and Arden Simmons; her sisters, Valerie Hill, Jamie (Joel) Hubbard and her brother James (Brenda) Davis; and many nieces, nephew, cousins, Aunt & Uncle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Selina Lynne and beloved step father Jack Smollon. A Glory to God service will be held at Trinity Church, located at 800 2nd Ave, Opelika, AL 36801, on Saturday, May 31st, at 3:16 PM.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Feed the Children at https://giving.feedthechildren.org/-/NWBNAFSC in Denise's memory.

Denise was such a blessing when she lead our freedom group. She was beautiful inside and out. I know she is completely healed and resting in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Until we meet again. My deepest sympathies to her family.

I had no idea Denise had met her Lord! I´ve meant to call for weeks and just put it off. I know she is with her precious mama and enjoying all she´s dreamed of. My deepest prayers and sympathies to all who loved her.
