EARLENE KING Obituary

EARLENE W. KING Funeral service for Mrs. Earlene W. King, 69, of Opelika will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Bethesda Baptist Church with Rev. David Stallion Sr. officiating. A graveside and interment service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Resthaven Cemetery in Washington, GA. Mrs. King passed Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the East Alabama Medical Center. She was born in Washington, GA and was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church. She was affiliated with the Shiloh Chapter OES. Mrs. King retired from Wilkes Telephone Company and was a former member of the City Council of Washington, GA, serving two terms. In 2007, she relocated to Opelika, AL and joined Bethesda Baptist Church where she served as president of the Pastor's Aide Ministry and sang in the senior choir. Mrs. King was associated with the Red Hat Society. Her husband, Floyd King Jr, preceded her in death. Her remains will lie in state one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers/plants, the family request that donations be made in Mrs. King's memory to Bethesda Baptist Church P. O. Box 4274; Opelika, AL 36803. Survivors: two sons, Gary D. King, Waldorf, MD and Kevin F. (Lillie) King, Opelika; two grandsons, Gavin F. King and LaTrell D. Mitchell; a great granddaughter, Khari L. Mitchell; three aunts, Daisy Anthony, Gladys Arnette both of Lexington, NC and Yvonne Crew, Washington, GA; a brother-in-law, James (Charlie Mae) King, Washington, GA; two sisters-in-law, Florene King, and Atlanta, GA and Essie King, Washington, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mike and I loved your Mom and Grandmom so much. We feel blessed for the times we had her in our lives.
Our town of Washington, Ga. has lost one of its kindest, most knowledgable council members it ever had... Earline pulled no punches, she told things as she believed them..... she was ly a true Lady!!!!!! The last phone message she left on our answering machine said, " Hi,Sniggy, it's Earline, don't worry about me..... I'm fine!!!!....AND SHE IS

Gary and Gavin, I am truly sorry for your loss. Earlene was a great servant for the Kingdom and will truly be missed. I enjoyed our relationship for the past 25 years through Gary. She will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her. I will keep you in my prayers. Love You,

I was so sorry to hear about Earline's passing. I knew her from the Opelika Sportsplex where we took trips together. I remember our trip to Washington DC where we met her son . She will be missed. My thoughts are with her family.
