Michael Garrett Obituary
December 15, 1962 - February 23, 2022
Michael was born in Columbia, Missouri. In 1977 he moved with his family to Lee County where he graduated from high school at Scott Prep. He then attended Auburn University receiving a degree in history. He went on to get a Masters degree in museum studies at Texas Tech.
He worked at Auburn University Library until he retired on disability. He loved books and was almost a walking encyclopedia. He could talk about almost any subject. He was kind and thoughtful and loved children.
He will be greatly missed by his many friends and his parents, Phillip and Marilyn Garrett; brother, Jim (Betsy) and their 2 children, Isaac and Frances; aunts, Betty Kruck (George), and Maxine Scott (Don); uncle, Roger Garrett, as well as many Garrett cousins.
Memorials may be sent to the Community Market where Mike had volunteered or to Lee County Habitat for Humanity, or the Unitarian Fellowship.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

I'm so sorry for your loss. While I hadn't seen Michael in many years, I remember him as kind and gentle, with an interest in everything.

Uncle Phil and Aunt Marilyn,
We are deeply sorry for your shocking loss. Michael was incredibly sweet, thoughtful, and kind hearted. He truly loved books and the continuous pursuit of knowledge. When we were kids I was so full of energy and wanted to play outside all of the time. He was perfectly content lost in the pages of a book. It took me many years to realize how right he was to be so reverent in learning. I am truly saddened by his passing...
