MITCHELL JONES Obituary

MITCHELL MERRELL JONES 1925-2011 Funeral service for Mr. Mitchell Merrell Jones, 86, of Auburn will be held Monday, October 17, 2011 at 2 PM at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home (Chapel). Dr Rusty Sowell will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30-2 PM prior to the service. Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of Lee County. He was well known for the extreme quality of grading and excavation projects. Merrell was well known member of Old Geezer's coffee drinking club and a regular patron of Beauregard Country Kitchen. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents Mary Ann Mitchell Jones and Loman Jones Sr and a brother Loman Jones Jr, 3 sisters; Mary Emma Jones, Eva Jones Fahl and Nell Jones Aldred. He is survived by his wife Peggy Locke Jones of Auburn, 1 son Mitchell Jones of Auburn, 1 daughter Heather Jones Gunnells (James) of Auburn, and 1 special puppy Addie, and several nieces and nephews. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be directed to the Lee County Humane Society or a favorite charity. Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home & Crematory is directing. www.jeffcoattrant.com

Peggy, Heather and Mitchell,

I just learned of Merrell's passing yesterday. We are all so very sorry to hear of this tragedy in your family. When I think of Merrell, I remember his sweet bubbly personality~I know he was gruff, but I know he was really sweet even though he didn't want to express it! I know he loved all of you dearly!!! Please tell Addie that our Buddy sends his condolences, too. We know you will miss him terribly and we will, too. You are in our thoughts and prayers!

Aunt Peggy, Mitchell & Heather,

I am so sorry for your loss. It broke our hearts to hear this news. We are all very sad that we could not be with yall today. Just know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers. Sure wish I could have seen my favorite Great Uncle before he went to Heaven. He always made me laugh when I was around him.
