Billie Ingle Obituary

LUBBOCK - Billie "Linda" Hairston Ingle passed away in Lubbock, Texas on August 4, 2022, at the age of 80.

Linda grew up in Colorado City, Texas on the family farm. She attended high school in Colorado City, earned her teaching degree at Tarleton State, and received her Master's degree from Angelo State University. Billie was teaching school in Andrews, Texas when she met and married the love of her life, Sam Ingle of Cleveland, Oklahoma. They were married at the family farm in Colorado City in 1968 and shortly thereafter moved to Artesia, then Eldorado, and finally landed in Midland and called it home. Together they had 28 years of wedded bliss, two sons Jon and Rob, many close friends and family, and beloved trips to visit the Hairston family farm in Colorado City and Ingle family Oklahoma.

Linda taught school for 35 years, starting in Eldorado and retiring while in Midland. She later moved to Lubbock, Texas enjoying time with her son Jon and his wife, Ronda. Linda was an avid reader, and while she enjoyed all genres, history was her favorite. She was a Texas history buff and enjoyed telling stories about past times. She loved animals, and it showed as she never met a stray she wouldn't feed and love. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and did both for a time with the Goddard Girls. She cherished her grandchildren most of all. Her favorite memories are filled with vacations and time spent with Turner and Paige while they grew up.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Ingle, and her parents, Bill and Elsie Hairston. Linda is survived by her two sons, Jon Ingle and his wife Ronda; Rob Ingle and his wife Jody. Grandchildren: Turner Ingle, Paige Ingle, and Anson Ingle; and a brother Don Hairston and his wife Karen, and their daughters Jennifer and Blair.

A Memorial Reception will be held on September 10, 2022, at the Snyder Colosseum, West Side, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you to remember Linda as you spend time with your loved ones; and consider donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Linda Hairston was my Texas History teacher at Andrews (Texas) Junior high during the 1965-1966 school year. What a blessing she was! She was a excellent teacher and her demeanor was always so pleasant! She had a LOT of patience and as she presented lessons to us in the classroom and her lessons were always interesting. She wasn´t just "teaching history"... She was teaching us about people and events of the past that impacted the present. I was fortunate to have been in her class! I don´t want to "tell on her", but one time she let us bring a transistor radio to class so we could keep up with the score of a World Series day game.

My prayers for her family and friends as you work through this great loss! May God comfort you as only He can.

Jon and Rob, we were so blessed to know your parents. Some good memories for sure. We know you will miss your mother, but hope you can rest assured that she and your dad are together again.
