Christopher Gerber Obituary

ODESSA Our beloved Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather, Christopher Laurance Gerber, 57, of Odessa, passed away April 8, 2010. He was born in Durango, CO on February 24, 1953. He went to Crockett Jr. High and Permian High School. He was married to his beloved Yolanda on November 5, 1971. Larry's greatest passion was his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, brother and grandfather. He adored his grandchildren.
He was a bodyman by trade and worked at Sewell Ford, Davis, Quality and Taylor's Body Shops. He enjoyed history (Loved the History Channel) museums, hunting, camping, flintnapping, BBQing, archery and making people laugh with his crazy jokes. He loved nature. He was an excellent archer and went on many shooting tournaments. He was a past president of PBAA.
He is proceeded in death by his mother Joyce Gerber and step father Eldon Gerber.
He is survived by his loving wife Yolanda; son Jeremy; daughters Jennifer, Jody and spouse Danny Essary; father Cristobal Martinez and step mother Vangie; brothers: Walter, Jonathan, Carl and Christopher Martinez, Greg Gerber; sisters: Cami Potts, Tina Colson, Laura Newbrough, Diana Gerber-Martinez, and Bridget Blowers; grandchildren: Jeremy Gerber, Ian and Isiah Essary also numerous extended family and friends.
Throughout his battle with heart failure he maintained his trademark courage and dignity. We, his family and friends stand in awe of the strength he possessed: strength enough to face his fears while comforting ours. The loss that we, his family and friends feel testifies to the sweetness of his spirit, the purity of his love and the beauty of his soul. Good Night Sweet Larry. We Love You.
The rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Memorial services following at 2 p.m. on April 16, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the American Heart Association.

I am so sorry to hear about Larry's passing. I haven't seen him or Yo in such a long time, but occasionally would think of the days we all were together and the good times we had. I remember Larry's sense of humor and how much he loved Yolanda. God Bless Yolanda, their children and grandchildren. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
