Alice Sutton Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of, Alice "Kathleen " Sutton , 83 of Washington, PA. Kathleen passed away in the early morning of Tuesday December 24th. She fought a hard battle dealing with the disease of Dementia. Kathleen was born in 1941 and was a long- time resident of Houston Pennsylvania. She was the wife of her high school sweetheart, Robert Lee Sutton. She was a daughter of the late Walter Sobrasky and Charlotte Casper. She is survived by her husband Robert Sutton; daughter, Rhonda Bard, husband Chuck of Meadowlands; sons, William Sutton, wife Nikki of Houston, and Dr. Robert Sutton and wife Jeannine of Garnet Valley of Pennsylvania; 7 grandchildren, Scott (Ashley) Bard of Houston, Charles Bard of Washington, Tanner Sutton of Kansas City, Dr. Haley (Scott Betts) Sutton of Washington, Quinn, Crew and Tye Sutton of Garnet Valley; great grandchildren, Brayden, Lawson and Killian Bard of Houston; brother, James Sobrasky of Houston; nephew, Tony Sobrasky of Fla. and niece Susie Sobrasky Swart. She attended Chartiers-Houston High School and everyone knew her as, the head majorette. Most her life involved the horse racing industry. Her husband worked for Delvin Miller and her home was on a piece of land surrounded by baby yearlings and horses getting ready for the races. Everyone that lived in the area can remember the white lined fences and beautiful property on Allison Hollow Road. Her life was always one of giving. She enjoyed her family, friends , dogs, horses, and multiple animals that were always a mainstay on her farm. She loved cooking for everyone, making homemade spaghetti, fruit salad, lady locks and new recipes she always wanted to try. Her door was always open and she often invited others who had no where else to go to her table. She worked at Jeffery's Drug store early in her career, but her long-time employment was at the "Meadows Racetrack" for over 30 years as the Clerk of Course. Her job included doing qualifiers in the morning and night time races in the evening. In between working at the Meadows Racetrack she took care of her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. For Kathleen family was everything. Everyone knew Kathleen for her crafting. She learned to crochet from her mother and carried yarn and a crochet needle to work with her every evening. She made Steeler dolls, blankets, and so many other unique gifts for her friends and family. Kathleen's smile lit up a room but you had better not cross her family or friends because she would not be happy. She was an avid Steelers fan and was in front of the TV on Sundays watching every game. She also truly enjoyed following her family's sports activities and was a true Chartiers-Houston Wrestling fan. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be sent in her memory to: The Meadows Racetrack Chapel c/o Pastor Joe Didonato or Washington Humane Society

Kath and I were co-workers for many years at the Meadows Racetrack, and I have never worked beside someone as dedicated and articulate as she was. Mistakes just never happened with Kathleen and she was so admired by the horsemen as well. Not only was Kathleen my co-worker, I considered her to be a good friend and have many super memories of those "good old days". My deep heartfelt sympathy goes out to Bob and the entire family. Please know you´re in my thoughts and prayers.
