Allen Lynch Obituary

Allen Ray Lynch, Sr., 79, of Brownsville, Centerville Borough, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in the Jefferson Hospital, after a long-time battle with illness. Allen was born October 11, 1945, a son of the late Albert and Mabel Hines Lynch. He was a 1963 graduate of the Beth Center High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army July 19, 1963 and served for 3 years until July of 1966. He was promoted to Sgt. (E-5) while serving in Vietnam August 18, 1965. Allen was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Air Medal (x2), which he received for actively participating in 25 aerial missions over hostile territory in support of counter insurgency operations. Mr. Lynch was proud to be a hardworking coal miner and was employed by Clyde Mines for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Local 688 Union and the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA). He was Catholic by faith, and in his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and most of all his greatest joy were his grandchildren. On October 31, 1966, he married his wife, Jacqueline Kurtz Lynch, who survives. They cherished 58 years of marriage. He also leaves behind four children, William Lynch (Linda) of Salem, Ohio, Tracy Corrick of Bentleyville, Colleen Yanosky (Lance) of Centerville, and Allen Lynch Jr. of Pittsburgh; along with 11 grandchildren, and seven great- grandchildren. Preceding him in death were five siblings, Catherine, Audrey, Dave, Johnny and William. At Allen's request, all funeral services are private and have been entrusted to the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home Ltd., 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to John Jackson's fundraising page at Action.Lung.org Inurnment will be held at LaFayette Memorial Park.
