Angelo A. Ripepi, 93, of Monongahela, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in Penn Highlands Mon-Valley Hospital. Born May 2, 1930, in Gallatin, Angelo was a son of Angelo Benedetto and Catherine Quattrone Ripepi. Following his graduation in 1948 from Monongahela High School, Angelo earned his Bachelor's degree in Education from California University. He was stationed three years in Alaska while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and after returning home, followed up his education by earning his Master's degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Angelo began his teaching career in the Monongahela schools as a math teacher and later became a guidance counselor in the Elizabeth Forward School District until his retirement in 1991. A member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela, he was instrumental in the construction of its Festa grounds. An avid woodworker and Penn State Nittany Lion fan, he was a member of the Monongahela Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1409 and Monongahela Elks Lodge. Angelo was always proud to say he built his family home. He loved spending time and helping friends and family and could always be found in the summer at Ripepi Winery helping his nephew. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark (Paula) Ripepi of Harrison City; two daughters and sons-in- law, Jennifer (Thomas) Sendek of Washington, and Annette (William) Hough of Towson, Md.; two sisters, Dr. Antoinette Ripepi Cramer and husband Dr. Thomas of Sugarland, Texas, and Rose and her husband, Dr. John Moreschi of Ft. Mills, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Michael, Missy (Joe), John (Chelsea), Marina, Elaina (Alex), Ruth and Katie; along with one great- granddaughter, Sofia Marie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Jean Sawich Ripepi, who passed away January 1, 2023; a granddaughter, Bekah Hough, who died November 21, 2004; two brothers, Anthony J. "Neno" Ripepi and Philip J. "Leo" Ripepi; and a sister, Frances Pepka. Friends will be received from 12 noon until 8 p.m. Sunday, January 28, in the Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767. Blessing prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday, January 29, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township, with military honors conducted by the Mon-Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. Condolences can be made to the family at
