Carol VanSickle Obituary

Carol A. Higinbotham VanSickle, 88, of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Bethel Park, Versailles, Ky. and Washington, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024. She was the wife of the late Harry D. "Dan" VanSickle; loving mother of Lee A. VanSickle and Lori Barr (Dan); grandmother of Daniel Barr (Emily Wolfson), and Christopher Barr; and great-grandmother of Kailee, Declan, Liam, David and Kinzley. Carol was a graduate of Maryland Medical Secretarial School. She was a former member of Pittsburgh Mendelssohn Choir and a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church. Carol was a former secretary of John McMillan Elementary School in Bethel Park and United Methodist Children's Home in Versailles, Ky. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family and was proud to have her recipes published in the Southern Living Magazine. She never missed anyone's birthday and always included a tea bag in the cards. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 1, in the David J. Henney Funeral Home, 6364 Library Road (Route 88), Library, where a funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 2. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3319 W. Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216. www.davidhenneyfuneralhome.com
