Frank Karlowicz Obituary

Frank Edward Karlowicz, 69, of Lake Lynn, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025, in the Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, W.Va., following a lengthy illness. Born in Little Cleveland, near Edenborn, April 29, 1956, he was a son of the late Frank and Helen Yuric Karlowicz, Sr. A 1974 graduate of German High School, Frank served on student council, was vice president of his senior class and was a letterman on the Uhlan football team, playing tackle in jersey #76. For 37 years, he worked for the Albert Gallatin School District in waste water management. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Uniontown and the Carmichaels Sons of the American Legion. In his spare time, Frank enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing pool, his guitar and harmonica, and especially working on the farm with his John Deere tractor. He also restored his 1970 Dodge Dart, and enjoyed taking it to car shows. Frank was a big fan of NASCAR, and his favorite driver was Brad Keselowski. A skilled artist, he also loved his three huskies: Samson, Delilah and Eli. The farm meant so much to him, and it seemed there wasn't anything he couldn't do, fix or repair there. A true believer in Bigfoot and aliens, Frank, his wife, Kay, and their farm, were featured on Animal Planet's "Finding Bigfoot Paranormal Sasquatchtivity", Season 6, Episode 7. He had fun inviting friends over for paranormal investigations at the farm. His favorite charities were Tunnel to Towers, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Paralyzed American Veterans, Buoniconti Foundation, Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and he gave faithfully to the Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh. Surviving are his wife, Kay Kidwell Karlowicz - theirs was a true love story; four children and their spouses: Franco (Jackie) Karlowicz of Orlando, Fla., Anthony "Little Buddy" (Kelli) Karlowicz of Carmichaels, Kelly (Kevin) Matzus of Fairchance, and Joshua Darr of Uniontown; grandchildren, Charleigh Karlowicz, Colie Darr and Caleb Matzus Chapman; four sisters, Darlene (Joey) Azzardi, Tammy (Jerry) Crable, Michele (Jimmy) Barill, and Linda (Geno) Capitoni; one brother, Michael (Charity) Karlowicz; and many nieces and nephews. Honoring his wishes, there will be no public services. A memorial for family and friends is being planned for next spring at the farm. Arrangements are in the care of the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society. Remembrances for his family may be posted at www.herod-rishel.com
