Greg Gagnelius Obituary

Greg Gagnelius of Boulder, Mont., died from a brain tumor Saturday, May 17, 2014, in a Helena, Mont., hospital.Mr. Gagnelius was born May 7, 1956.He worked for the railroad of Boulder Thompson Falls and Trout Creek, for over 25 years, until failing health interfered with his life.Surviving are his mother, Ann Gagnelius; a brother, Guy; a sister, Christy; and a nephew, Shawn, all of Minneapolis, Minn., where he was born and raised and attended high school.On August 12, 1989, he married his wife, Mona Lesa Travis in Thompson Falls on the banks of Clark Fork, who survives. They were married for almost 25 years.Also surviving are two stepsons, Steven Chavez of Seattle, Wash., and Chris and Melissa Chavez, with the U.S. Army in Colorado Springs, Colo.; four stepgrandchildren, Joshua of Thompson Falls, Justin of San Diego, Calif., and Kyia and Isabella of Seattle; his father- and mother-in-law, Clyde and Betty Travis of Washington; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Fiji Matsumata of Japan and Bertie (Rich) Franklin of Providence, Ky.; a brother-in-law, Gary (Mindy) Francis of West Finley; and several nieces and nephews.Mr. Gagnelius' wish was to be cremated and buried on the farm he loved in Boulder, with his dog, Ruger.A memorial service will be held at a later date in his home town.
