The Scruppi Family is sad to announce the passing of Paul Joseph Scruppi, Sr., of Cherry Valley. Paul, 87, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, in Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington. He was a son of Pete and Mary Stanish Scruppi.
He was a graduate of Burgettstown Union High School Class of 1954. Upon graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958.
After returning from the service, he married Anita "Nettie" Scruppi, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Paul worked for J&L Steel, Climax Molybdenum, and ultimately retired from Weirton Steel in 2002.
He enjoyed working in his garden, restoring his Ford Model A, and watching his kids and grandkids play sports.
Paul is survived by his wife, Nettie; his sister, Genevieve Cherenko; and his children, Mary Beth Raggi (Eugene), Paul Joseph Scruppi, and Anthony Robert Scruppi (Stephanie). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Dr. Eugene Raggi (Andrea, Antonio and Colette), Dr. Dominic Raggi (Dejana), Adam Raggi, Katy Scruppi, Esq., Sarah Scruppi, David Scruppi, Joseph Scruppi, and Caroline Scruppi.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Pete and David Scruppi.
There will be no public service. Instead, Paul wished for a private funeral with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements are entrusted to Young Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021 (724-947-2049).

Nettie, Paul,Betsy and Tony. So sorry for your loss. Paul was such a great man. Remember when we were kids swimming at your pool and your Dad always made me feel welcome. RIP Paul. You sure deserve it
