Peter Mastrangelo

Peter "Pete" Mastrangelo, 85, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 1, 2017, in Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Mt. Lebanon, following a brief illness, surrounded by family.
He was born July 1, 1931, in Washington, a son of the late Frank and Rose Coppola Mastrangelo.
On July 5, 1957, he married Marilyn Foley, who survives.
Mr. Mastrangelo was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during the Korean War era.
He worked for Cooper Industries for 35 years. He was also a licensed barber and cut hair full time, prior to joining Cooper, and part time afterwards over the years.
Mr. Mastrangelo was an avid coin collector and was a coin and collectible dealer at Trader Jacks in Kirwan Heights, after his retirement.
He was a member of South Hills Coin Club in Bethel Park and George Washington Numismatic Association in Washington.
While his kids were growing up, he was a Little League coach for five years. Later, as his grandchildren began to participate in sporting activities, he was a passionate supporter and never missed an opportunity to see them play.
Mr. Mastrangelo enjoyed cooking and baking. He was well-known among friends and family for his delicious pizzelle cookies he shared with them during holidays and throughout the year.
He attended The Bible Chapel in McMurray.
Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife, are two sons, Jeffrey S. Mastrangelo (Rosemary) of Canonsburg and Randall C. Mastrangelo of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sisters, Violet Johnson (Edward) of Massilon, Ohio, and Helen Landes of McLean, Va.; six grandchildren, Anthony, Gina, Maria, Ryan, Matthew and Megan Mastrangelo; a great-granddaughter, Alexa Grace Mastrangelo; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Frank and Samuel Mastrangelo, and four sisters, Evelyn Calli, Mary Schumacher, Violet Mastrangelo and Imogene Curry.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 6, in The Bible Chapel, 300 Gallery Drive, McMurray. Those attending the service are asked to please meet a the church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, 3739 Washington Road, McMurray. Full military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 Honor Guard.
