Robert Boyle Obituary

Robert "Bob" Laurence Boyle Jr., 76, of Claysville, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, in Washington Hospital. Born on May 9, 1948, he was the son of Robert Laurence Boyle Sr. and the late Shirley Irlbacher Boyle. Bob attended Immaculate Conception High School and Penn State University. He served in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1972, achieving the rank of Airman First Class during the Vietnam War. Part of his service was spent stationed in Korat, Thailand. Following his military service, Bob began his career at his father's engineering company. On September 16,1977, he married Ina E. Fraley. Together, they started a family and settled on a farm in Claysville. For most of his career, Bob worked with CH2M HILL (now Jacobs) engineering company, which allowed him to travel widely. This sparked a love for travel that he shared with his loved ones. Bob was a loving provider for his family. In retirement, he could often be found working on projects around the farm, and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up. He was rarely seen without his signature bandana. Bob was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Claysville, the Claysville American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Washington. In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by three children: Nathan (Andrea) Boyle, Adam (Kara Dornish) Boyle and Mary Boyle; six siblings: Charles (the late Marlene) Boyle, David Boyle, Maureen Boyle, Patrick Boyle, Carolyn Boyle and Rosalie (James) Schuster; three grandchildren: Silas, Remi and August "Gus"; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 30, in Sacred Heart Church of Claysville, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Claysville American Legion. A private burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
