Robert King Obituary

Robert L. King, 91, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, in UPMC Washington. He was born July 22, 1934, in his home in Scott Township, a son of the late Stephen King and Veronica Florian King. Robert attended Carnegie High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1955 to 1957 as a Private First Class Medic. Robert was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Edwin S. Linton American Legion Post 175. He worked for RCA and Tactec. Then after closing, he went to work for Frank Imperatore. He also drove truck for Christman Trucking and retired from Washington Rotating Control Heads. Robert was a big sports fan. He previously coached South Franklin Baseball. He loved the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins, win or lose, and always yelled at the television while watching games. He also enjoyed watching basketball, golf, and bowling. In his younger years, he would golf year-round, no matter the weather, every Sunday morning. He was on a bowling team every Thursday evening. He loved going to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events, especially high school wrestling. On December 26, 1959, he married Maureen Carr King, who passed away September 1, 1993. Surviving are a daughter, Sharon (Greg) Ewig of Washington; two sons, Steven (Jenn) King of Washington and Robert Edward King of Michigan; grandchildren Matthew (Tiffany) Ewig of Claysville, Stacey (Matthew) Rogers of Washington, Zachary (Courtney) Ewig of Washington and Dylan King and Olivia King, both of Washington; great-grandchildren Alexis, Blake and Grady Ewig, Hailey, Easton and Evelyn Rogers and Addelynn Ewig; a brother, Richard King of Ligonier; a sister, June (George) Norris of Ligonier; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jim and Diana Carr of Bridgeville and Kathy and Ted Kerchansky of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his parents and wife, are a son, Timothy King; a daughter, Sandra King; and a brother, Jackie King. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Home, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2025, with Deacon Tim Counihan officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet, Scott Township.
